What Our Patients Say
  • You are a top-notch dental practice! I have been to several in my lifetime and yours tops the list of professional services, timeliness of appointments and a wonderful staff! I have found your business runs like a well-oiled machine which I do appreciate. Many thanks to Dr. Weir, Dr. Thomas and your kind and caring staff.
    Ginni P.
No issues, just accolades! Everything went very well and was particularly impressed at your attention to customer service. Both dentist and DA explained what they were doing at every step of the way, I got full answers to all of my questions. You seem to have the needs of the patient at the heart of everything you do!
    Phil W.
  • The staff was great during the procedure. Having wisdom teeth extracted was a bit distressing but confidence of staff helped me get through the process and have had very little pain afterwards. Great job team Thomas!!!
    Brett K.
As with previous visits, this one was smooth and efficient. The technician answered my questions about whitening my teeth and was very thoughtful and friendly. I would, and have, recommended your practice to friends and co-workers.
  • We usually see Dr. Weir and this was our first time seeing Dr. Thomas, but he was great as well. Ms. Holly is the greatest, especially with kids. I used to have a major fear of going to the dentist and now it's kind of a nice thing to do. Thank you all!
Very professional and courteous staff. Clean office, thorough work, and wonderful patient care. I feel very confident with the knowledge and expertise of Dr. Weir and would highly recommend his services. Top notch support staff.

How to Plan for Your Dental Implant

Older Couple Smiling | Dentist Charleston SC

You've lost a tooth, and you're thinking about replacing it with a dental implant. You've made an excellent choice for your long-term oral health and well being. Now, here's what you should know about dental implants in Charleston, SC.

The First Phase

When you choose to work with the dental team at James Island Dental Associates, you will receive comprehensive implant dentistry. This continuity of care means that you will be working with our dentists from start to finish without ever having to be referred elsewhere for treatment. This is a comfort for our patients.

The first phase of treatment is placing the implant into your jawbone during a simple surgical procedure. Our dentists perform this procedure at our office, and most patients are surprised that it's actually more comfortable than other types of dental procedures. Once your implant is placed, it will need time to heal and integrate with your bone over a period of 3 to 4 months. This process is called osseointegration, and it's how a firm foundation for your tooth is created.

After Healing is Completed

Once your implant is healed, it is now part of your dental anatomy. You'll return to our office where our dentists will customize a high-quality porcelain crown to restore your missing tooth in both shape and aesthetics. Your crown will function just as your natural tooth did, so eating and chewing will be comfortable once again.

Caring for Your Implant

It's important to take good care of your investment in your oral health with an excellent home care routine and regular checkups with your dentist. These steps ensure the health and longevity of your implant, which has the potential to last a lifetime.

Our Charleston, SC team is happy to help restore both your smile and your confidence with implant dentistry. If you have additional questions, please contact our office.
